Celebration should never come at the Earth’s expense

OUR MISSION

To make products that invite joy, without losing sight of what matters.

Here’s what that means in practice, not just in words:

Glitter You Can Feel Good In & Good About

✔ 100% Plastic-Free

Traditional glitter is made from PET plastic which becomes microplastic and pollutes waterways, oceans, and soil. Our glitter is made from plant cellulose, sourced from sustainably farmed eucalyptus trees.

✔ Certified Biodegradable

Projekt Glitter meets the EU standard [EN13432] for biodegradability, meaning it safely breaks down in natural environments (like soil or water) without leaving toxins behind.

✔ Ocean-Safe & Soil-Safe

Our glitter is tested to break down in marine and terrestrial environments, it doesn’t linger or accumulate like plastic glitter does.

How Our Glitter Sparkles

Most conventional glitter is made from PET plastic. Ours starts with plant-based cellulose, and then uses mineral pigments to create brilliance.

Here’s how it works:

  • Rayon (Regenerated Cellulose)
The biodegradable base film. This is the plant-derived “flake” that replaces plastic.
  • Synthetic Mica + Titanium Dioxide
These mineral pigments create the reflective, pearlescent shimmer. Think of them as tiny mirrors layered on the cellulose.
  • Tin Oxide Coatings
Enhance luster and give that high-shine sparkle.
  • Iron Oxides & Ferric Ammonium Ferrocyanide
Provide colour tones, from warm golds to cool blues.
  • Shellac + Humectants (Glycerin, Water, Urea)
Help bind pigments to the cellulose film and keep the glitter flexible, smooth, and wearable.

In short:

  • Cellulose makes it biodegradable.
  • Mineral pigments create the sparkle.
  • The rest helps it bind, flex, and wear beautifully.

Glitter That Loves Your Skin as Much as You Do

Unlike traditional craft glitter, often sharp, abrasive and toxic, Projekt Glitter is made to be worn confidently and comfortably. Our blends meet cosmetic safety standards, meaning they’re:

  • Milled smooth with rounded edges so they're not scratchy.
  • Free from parabens, phthalates, synthetic dyes, heavy metals and other common irritants.
  • Soft to the touch, made from plant cellulose, not rigid plastic, so it glides on comfortably.
  • Safe for delicate areas around the eyes and lips.

Packaging That Doesn’t Pollute

We’ve cut out the unnecessary fluff, and kept only what’s beautiful, functional, and low-impact.

What We Use (and Why):
  • Glass tubes and jars
They look good, feel good, and can be reused or recycled forever.
  • Aluminium lids
Lightweight and durable, they're fully recyclable alongside glass.
  • No plastic inner cap
We’ve eliminated the plastic insert you’ll find in most beauty packaging.
  • Recycled card
All our printed materials (from packaging to product info) are printed on FSC-certified recycled paper.
  • PVC-free labels
Safer to produce (fewer toxic byproducts), easier to recycle, and don’t release nasty toxins into the environment.
  • Paper packing tape
Plastic tape doesn’t belong in a planet-conscious shipping system, ours is paper-based and fully recyclable.

More Than Plastic-Free, We’re Removing Plastic

Projekt Glitter is proud to partner with CleanHub, an organization dedicated to stopping plastic waste before it reaches our oceans.

Through this partnership, we go beyond plastic-free products- we help fund real cleanup efforts in coastal communities hit hardest by plastic pollution.

Here's What That Means:
  • Plastic waste is intercepted before it reaches the sea
  • Every order directly supports recovery in high-impact regions
  • Local teams are empowered to do real, on-the-ground cleanup work
